Last reviewed: November 3, 2026 · Sprout Social facts sourced from official materials reviewed November 3, 2026
Searching for a Sprout Social alternative usually means one of three things:
- The seat math stopped working. Sprout prices every plan per seat. A three-person team on Professional pays 3 × $299 = $897 a month on annual billing, before a single add-on.
- You need an API that actually publishes. The Sprout API sits on the Advanced plan ($399 per seat a month, billed annually), and Sprout's own API documentation says only draft posts can be created through it.
- You want an AI agent to run the publishing. ChatGPT or Claude writes the posts. Something has to schedule them, check them and report back on what went live.
Most Sprout Social roundups answer the first point and stop. They swap one per-seat dashboard for a cheaper per-seat dashboard, which fixes the invoice and leaves the other two problems exactly where they were.
Here is how the alternatives actually rank, by workflow owner.

What Is Sprout Social?
Sprout Social is a social media management suite built around engagement and reporting. Publishing is part of it, but the center of gravity is the Smart Inbox, review management, monitoring and analytics. From its official pricing page and API documentation (reviewed November 3, 2026):
- Essentials: $79 per seat a month on annual billing ($99 monthly). Up to 5 profiles and the Trellis AI agent with 100 credits per seat a month.
- Standard: $199 per seat ($249 monthly). 5 profiles, the consolidated inbox, keyword and location monitoring, review management.
- Professional: $299 per seat ($399 monthly). Unlimited profiles, competitor and paid insights, the message approval workflow.
- Advanced: $399 per seat ($499 monthly). Adds sentiment analysis and "The Sprout API and Helpdesk integrations".
- Enterprise: custom pricing.
- Add-ons: Trellis Plus at $28 per seat on annual billing. Premium Analytics, Listening and Employee Advocacy are sold through a demo.
- Trial: 30 days, no credit card.
- Networks: Instagram, X, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, TikTok, Threads, YouTube and Reddit, plus Bluesky on its integrations page.
For teams whose day starts in the inbox, Sprout is honestly very good at that job. Reply collision detection, case management, review moderation and group, profile and post-level reporting are all on the plan comparison.
Where Sprout Social falls short is cost per person and programmatic publishing. Every person is a billed seat, approvals start on Professional, and the API sits on the top self-serve plan. Then the API documentation adds the decisive line: "Only posts created in draft status are supported at this time."
That is the gap this guide addresses.
Why Teams Look for Sprout Social Alternatives
When teams start pricing a Sprout Social replacement, they usually hit one of these walls:
Per-seat pricing
Every plan is billed per seat, from $79 to $399 a month, so the bill grows with headcount.
API gated to Advanced
Programmatic access starts at $399 per seat a month.
Drafts, not delivery
The publishing endpoints create drafts only. A human still publishes what the software prepared.
No official agent surface
Trellis is an in-app AI teammate on credits. Its official ChatGPT connection answers questions about your social data; we found no official Sprout MCP server, and nothing in its materials lets an agent publish.
Approvals cost a tier
The approval workflow starts on Professional at $299 per seat.

#1 SocialClaw: Best Sprout Social Alternative for AI Agents
Overall Rating: 9.4 / 10
SocialClaw is the strongest Sprout Social alternative for any team whose publishing is driven by code or an AI agent rather than a person clicking through a calendar. It is a social publishing control plane: one hosted workspace that ChatGPT, Claude, a CLI script or your own product can operate directly, with every result inspectable afterwards.
SocialClaw inverts Sprout's shape. Sprout is an engagement and reporting suite that also publishes, priced per seat, with the API at the top of the ladder. SocialClaw is a publishing control plane that agents and code drive, priced by connected accounts and posts, with the API on the bottom rung.
What makes SocialClaw different
- Native inside ChatGPT and Claude. An official ChatGPT app, a hosted MCP connector for Claude at
https://getsocialclaw.com/mcpwith OAuth, and a Claude Code skill. - Every way in, on every plan. Dashboard, REST API, CLI, MCP server (hosted or local), Claude Code skill and ChatGPT app.
- Upload media once. Hosted upload returns a stable public URL every supported platform can fetch.
- Validate before apply, inspect after. Schedules are checked before anything goes live; runs, posts and attempts are queryable afterwards.
- 12 networks. X, LinkedIn (profiles and company pages), Instagram (Business and standalone professional), Threads, Facebook Pages, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, WordPress, Discord and Telegram.
SocialClaw was also one of the first social media schedulers to ship a CLI. Anything an agent can do in a terminal, it can do to your publishing.
Why SocialClaw wins for agent-run publishing
When an AI agent is responsible for publishing, three things go wrong with suite-first tools:
Problem 1: The API stops at drafts. Your agent writes ten posts and sends them to Sprout. The API accepts them only as drafts, so someone still opens Sprout and publishes each one by hand.
SocialClaw fix: apply schedules posts for real. The agent runs socialclaw apply -f schedule.json --json, or the matching API or MCP call, and the posts are queued on every connected account.
Problem 2: Bad posts surface at publish time. The agent attaches an image URL the platform cannot fetch, or builds a post that breaks a platform rule. You find out when the post fails.
SocialClaw fix: Hosted media upload plus validate before apply. The agent uploads once, gets a stable public URL, and validates the whole schedule before any live platform sees it.
Problem 3: Execution is invisible. The agent fires off a schedule and cannot tell which posts went out, which failed, and why.
SocialClaw fix: socialclaw status --run-id <id> --json and socialclaw posts get --post-id <id> --json return per-post state the agent can act on.
Sprout's API cannot get past the first problem on any plan. SocialClaw treats all three as the product, which is why we call its model the validate → apply → inspect loop.
Native AI agent integrations
Beyond the ChatGPT app and the Claude connector, three commands cover every other runtime:
npx skills add ndesv21/socialclaw # Claude Code skill
npm i -g socialclaw # CLI for scripts and shell-capable agents
npx -y socialclaw mcp # local MCP server
More detail lives on the MCP page, the CLI page and the scheduling API page.
SocialClaw pricing
7-day free trial, then four plans:
| Plan | Social Accounts | Posts / Month | Monthly Price | Annual Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 3 | 200 | $15 / mo | $10 / mo |
| Startup | 6 | 400 | $29 / mo | $19 / mo |
| Plus | 20 | 1,000 | $67 / mo | $49 / mo |
| Pro | 50 | 2,500 | $99 / mo | $80 / mo |
API, CLI, MCP and agent access are on every plan. Plan limits are connected accounts and monthly posts, with no per-seat line.
A three-person team pays $897 a month for Sprout Professional on annual billing; SocialClaw Plus covers 20 accounts for $49 a month on the same annual billing. That is not a like-for-like trade, because Sprout's price also buys its inbox and listening. It is the right trade when publishing is the job.

#2 Agorapulse: Best Like-for-Like Sprout Replacement
Overall Rating: 7.9 / 10
Agorapulse is the tool most Sprout users should trial first if they want the same kind of product for less. It covers the same daily work: an all-in-one inbox with comment moderation and Google reviews, unlimited scheduling, branded reports and an ROI report through Google Analytics. From its pricing page (reviewed November 3, 2026), Standard is $79 per user a month on annual billing ($99 monthly), Professional $119 ($149) and Advanced $149 ($199), each with 10 social profiles. The trial runs 30 days with no card.
Its MCP connector is free for all users and connects Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot to the inbox, drafts, calendar, listening searches and reports. The limit is deliberate and stated plainly: "Your agent never publishes a post on the spot."
When Agorapulse makes sense: Your team lives in the inbox, wants Sprout-style reporting and approvals (from Professional), and wants per-user pricing at well under half of Sprout's.
When Agorapulse falls short: It is still priced per user, its agent drafts but does not publish, and the reports API is reserved for the Custom plan. It fixes the invoice. The pipeline stays manual. Full breakdown in our Agorapulse alternatives guide.

#3 Vista Social: Best Flat-Priced All-in-One
Overall Rating: 7.7 / 10
Vista Social is the closest thing to Sprout's breadth with plan pricing instead of seat pricing. Professional is $99 a month ($950 a year) with 15 profiles and 2 users, Advanced $199 ($1,910 a year) with 30 profiles and 3 users, and Scale $449 ($4,310 a year) with 70 profiles and 4 users. The plan comparison lists a social inbox, DM automations, review monitoring and response, sentiment analysis and multi-stage approvals. Listening across social, web and news starts at $75 a month.
Its MCP server is included with all paid plans and exposes, in Vista's words, "100+ tools for scheduling, analytics, inbox, ideas, media and reporting," with Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot among the named clients. Its REST API (API 2.0) is limited to Enterprise or a paid API add-on, and Vista's docs say there is no sandbox: calls hit your live workspace.
When Vista Social makes sense: A small team wants Sprout's inbox, reviews and reporting in one place, with a predictable bill and an agent connector that can schedule.
When Vista Social falls short: Included users stop at 2, 3 or 4 per plan, the REST API sits behind Enterprise or a paid add-on, and there is no CLI or dry-run validate step for developers. Full breakdown in our Vista Social alternatives guide.

#4 SocialPilot: Best Budget Pick for Agencies
Overall Rating: 7.6 / 10
SocialPilot is the value play for agencies leaving Sprout. Its published pricing: Essentials $25.50 a month on annual billing ($30 monthly) for 7 accounts and 1 user; Standard $42.50 ($50) for 15 accounts and 3 users, adding the inbox, analytics and approvals; Premium $85 ($100) for 25 accounts and 6 users, adding client approvals and white-label reports; Ultimate $170 ($200) for 50 accounts and unlimited users. The trial is 14 days, across 10 networks including Google Business Profile and Bluesky.
Its official MCP server is on all paid plans, and SocialPilot lists creating, drafting and scheduling posts among the supported workflows. API access is Enterprise only.
When SocialPilot makes sense: You run an agency, care about cost per client more than listening depth, and want an AI assistant that can actually schedule.
When SocialPilot falls short: Essentials has no inbox or analytics, listening is not on the plan list, and a REST API means an Enterprise conversation. Full breakdown in our SocialPilot alternatives guide.

#5 Hootsuite: Best Enterprise Peer
Overall Rating: 7.3 / 10
Hootsuite is the alternative for enterprise teams that want to stay in the same weight class. Its plans page prices Standard at $99 per user a month on annual billing for 10 social accounts, Professional at $199 with unlimited accounts and inbox automation, and Advanced at $399 with content approvals and message auto-routing. Enterprise adds SSO and advanced listening with 13 months of historical data. The 14-day trial caps posting at 10 to 20 posts a day.
On agents, Hootsuite has gone further than Sprout. Its MCP servers (Perch, Nest, Lumen and Parliament) connect to ChatGPT and Claude, and "Create and schedule content" is listed among the capabilities, though its FAQ adds that "organizations maintain control over publishing." Our Hootsuite alternatives guide covers the other direction.
When Hootsuite makes sense: Enterprise teams that want listening depth, governance and an official AI connector, with budget in Sprout's range.
When Hootsuite falls short: It does not fix the seat math. The ladder runs from $99 to $399 per user, almost exactly Sprout's.

#6 Buffer: Best Simple Scheduler
Overall Rating: 7.2 / 10
Buffer is the cheapest clean exit from Sprout for small teams that mostly need scheduling. The Free plan connects 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each. Essentials is $5 per channel a month billed yearly ($60 a year) and Team is $10 ($120), with approvals only on Team. Its API is on every plan, Free included, and so are its ChatGPT and Claude integrations.
When Buffer makes sense: A few people, a handful of channels, a simple queue. See our Buffer alternatives guide if you outgrow it.
When Buffer falls short: No listening, a community inbox rather than a care desk, and per-channel pricing that adds up as channels grow.
#7 Planable: Best for Approvals
Overall Rating: 6.9 / 10
Planable prices per workspace with unlimited users, the opposite of Sprout's seat model. Basic is $39 per workspace a month (60 posts, 4 social pages) and Pro is $59 (150 posts, 10 pages, required approvals and the public API), or $33 and $49 on yearly billing. Analytics ($14), Social Inbox ($9) and Listening ($99) are per-workspace add-ons. The first 50 posts are free, and its MCP connector is on every plan.
When Planable makes sense: Clients, legal and team leads all need to sign off, and you would rather not pay a seat for each.
When Planable falls short: Post caps per workspace are real limits, and the inbox and analytics cost extra. Full breakdown in our Planable alternatives guide.
#8 Metricool: Best Analytics on a Budget
Overall Rating: 6.8 / 10
Metricool keeps Sprout's love of reporting at a fraction of the cost. The Free plan covers 1 brand and 20 posts a month but excludes LinkedIn and X. Starter is from $20 a month on annual billing ($25 monthly) for up to 5 brands, and Advanced from $53 ($67) for up to 15 brands, adding approvals and the API. Its MCP is listed on every plan. Our Metricool alternatives guide goes deeper.
When Metricool makes sense: Reports and competitor tracking drive your week across several brands on a small budget.
When Metricool falls short: Publishing is the sidecar to analytics, and the API waits for Advanced.
#9 Publer: Best Value per Account
Overall Rating: 6.7 / 10
Publer's help center (updated September 15, 2026) lists a Free plan with up to 3 social accounts, excluding X. Professional starts at $5 a month and Business at $10, each for 1 account and 1 user, rising as you add accounts and members; yearly billing saves 20%. The API and MCP server come with Business. Our Publer alternatives guide has the full comparison.
When Publer makes sense: Small teams that want cheap, flexible scheduling with an API to grow into.
When Publer falls short: Engagement and listening are thin next to Sprout, and developer access starts on Business.
#10 Sendible: Best for Unlimited Users
Overall Rating: 6.5 / 10
Sendible's headline is the one Sprout users want to hear: "Unlimited users on all plans." Core is $35 a month for 6 profiles, Plus $99 for 18 profiles with approvals, Premium $199 for 42 profiles with branded reports, Elite $299 for 90, and Enterprise $750 for 300 with SSO. White label is a paid add-on, and the trial is 14 days with no card.
When Sendible makes sense: Agencies that bring clients, freelancers and stakeholders into the tool and refuse to pay per head.
When Sendible falls short: We found no public API or official MCP server in its materials, so it ranks low for automated workflows. Full breakdown in our Sendible alternatives guide.
#11 Zoho Social: Best for Zoho Shops
Overall Rating: 6.5 / 10
Zoho Social is the budget suite for companies already on Zoho. Its US pricing: Standard $15 a month ($10 on annual billing), Professional $40 ($30), Premium $65 ($40) with 3 team members, approvals and Zoho CRM and Desk integrations, and Agency $320 ($230) for 10 clients. There is a free plan and a 15-day trial.
When Zoho Social makes sense: Your sales and support already run on Zoho CRM and Zoho Desk.
When Zoho Social falls short: It is built around the Zoho suite. Its MCP server (31 tools, including validate and publish) and REST API work for agents, but the network list and pricing reward teams already paying for Zoho.
#12 Later: Best for Visual Planning
Overall Rating: 6.1 / 10
Later prices by "social set" (one profile per supported network). Starter is $18.75 a month billed yearly for 1 set and 1 user, Growth $37.50 for 2 sets and 2 users, and Scale $82.50 for 6 sets and 4 users, with a 14-day trial. It supports Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat; X is not on that list. See our Later alternatives guide.
When Later makes sense: Instagram and TikTok visual planning for creators and brand teams.
When Later falls short: No X, and no public API or MCP named on its pricing page.
#13 Loomly: Best Calendar-Led Workflow
Overall Rating: 6.0 / 10
Loomly's Starter plan is $49 a month billed yearly ($65 monthly) for 12 social accounts and 3 users, already including approval workflows and advanced analytics. Beyond is $249 billed yearly ($332 monthly) for 60 accounts and unlimited users. A free trial needs no credit card.
When Loomly makes sense: Mid-size teams that plan around a shared calendar and need approvals on the entry plan.
When Loomly falls short: No public API or MCP is named on its pricing page. Full breakdown in our Loomly alternatives guide.

Scores run from 1 to 10. Overall is an editorial weighting, not a strict average: it leans on agent access, API access and publishing control, with value and engagement as tie-breakers.
SocialClaw Workflow in 60 Seconds
This is the whole validate → apply → inspect loop from a terminal. An agent in ChatGPT or Claude runs the same steps through the app or the MCP connector.
npm i -g socialclaw
socialclaw login --api-key <key>
socialclaw accounts connect --provider linkedin --open
socialclaw accounts list --json
socialclaw assets upload --file ./launch.png --json # stable public URL
socialclaw validate -f schedule.json --json # check before anything goes live
socialclaw apply -f schedule.json --json
socialclaw status --run-id <id> --json # what happened, per post
socialclaw posts get --post-id <id> --json
Every step returns JSON an agent can read. That is the difference between a tool an agent can draft into and a tool an agent can run.
Migrating from Sprout Social to SocialClaw
- Keep what you need. Download the reports and media you want before your Sprout plan ends.
- Start the trial. Sign in and size the plan by connected accounts, not headcount.
- Reconnect accounts. Run
socialclaw accounts connect --provider <p> --openper network, thensocialclaw accounts list --json. - Wire up your agent. Install the ChatGPT app, or add
https://getsocialclaw.com/mcpas a connector in Claude. - Move the next week of posts. Upload media, validate, apply, and check the run with
socialclaw status. - Decide about the inbox. If customer care runs in the Smart Inbox, keep an engagement tool for that job.

Yes. Every plan is priced per seat, from $79 to $399 on annual billing. Agorapulse and Hootsuite also price per user; SocialClaw, Vista Social, SocialPilot, Sendible and Planable price by plan or workspace.
Can ChatGPT or Claude publish through Sprout Social?
Not to publish. Sprout's official ChatGPT connection answers questions about your social data, Trellis is an in-app AI agent, and its API creates drafts only. We found no Sprout MCP server. SocialClaw has both an official ChatGPT app and a hosted MCP connector for Claude.
Which Sprout Social alternative has the best social inbox?
Agorapulse. Its inbox, comment moderation, Google reviews and team assignment are the closest match to Sprout's Smart Inbox. Vista Social is a strong second.
Does SocialClaw replace Sprout Social completely?
No. SocialClaw replaces Sprout's publishing and adds what Sprout lacks: publishing through an API, CLI or AI agent on every plan. It does not replace the Smart Inbox or listening, so teams that depend on those keep an engagement tool beside it.
Final Verdict
Pick by the job you are hiring it for:
- The same suite for less → Agorapulse
- Inbox, reviews and reporting on a flat plan → Vista Social
- An agency on a tight budget → SocialPilot, or Sendible if unlimited users matter most
- Enterprise listening and governance → Hootsuite, at a similar price to Sprout
- Simple, cheap scheduling → Buffer or Publer
- Approvals are the whole job → Planable
- Code or an AI agent owns publishing → SocialClaw
If your publishing runs through ChatGPT, Claude, a script or your own product, SocialClaw is the clear winner. No other tool in this ranking documents all four on every plan: a REST API, a CLI, an MCP server and an official ChatGPT app. SocialClaw prices them by accounts rather than seats and wraps them in a validate → apply → inspect loop. Those are not features bolted onto a suite. They are the product.
